Nothing beats sharing a round of crisp beers and Chinese street bites outside on a Beijing summer night…
That’s why starting tonight, July 18th, Jing-A and Jing Yaa Tang will be teaming up to bring you the best of both worlds with our new pop-up beer garden, Jing-Jing!
Those of you who mourned the closure of our outdoor courtyard in 1949 The Hidden City will recognize a familiar sight when you come down to the Sunken Garden of The Opposite House, the home of Jing-Jing… We’ve set up our original 12 tap-tower from Jing-A Taproom there, which will be pouring a wide selection of our beers – not just our core beers but also seasonal favorites like Watermelon Xanadu – along with Zeffer cider and even a couple draft cocktails from our Back Bar’s menu!
Meanwhile in the kitchen, Jing Yaa Tang’s Chef de Cuisine Li Dong will be serving up a feast featuring 10 of his favorite Chinese street snacks for you to mix and match! For the non-drinkers out there (how did you end up following our wechat account?), they’ll also be offering home-made tea infusions and suanmeitang (sour plum drink). Here’s three of our favorites off the Jing-Jing menu:
Spiced Pork Knuckles
Paying homage to one of the most popular Sichuan snacks on the old Sanlitun Bar Street, the rich and spicy flavor of these pork knuckles pairs perfectly with a cold pint.
Spicy Sichuan Cold Noodles with Chicken
Another delicious treat from Sichuan – sweet, spicy and sour. Silky noodles and tender shredded chicken are mixed with a tantalizing mala chili sauce, an ideal late-night snack for the summer!
Baby Cucumber with Soy and Egg Sauce
A traditional snack from Northeast China featuring crisp and refreshing slivers of cucumber ready for dipping in a decadent sauce jam-packed with umami flavors.
