We brew with the best local and imported ingredients to make full-flavored, bold, and creative beers that are free of adjuncts and artificial preservatives.

We currently have several core beers that we brew year-round, and many seasonal beers that each year we look forward to brewing, and a long history of one-off and collaboration beers. We love experimenting, blurring the lines, and combining new flavors for whimsical beers in all sorts of styles!

Our flagship American IPA is abundantly dry-hopped for a burst of tropical fruit, fresh pine, and zesty citrus. A favorite among hop-heads, the Flying Fist’s medium bitterness and crisp finish make it our go-to IPA for all occasions.

A Belgian Wit, Beijing-style. Pale wheat malts, local mandarin orange and coriander seed give this beer a sunny color and a crisp, dry finish.

A Belgian Wit, Beijing-style. Pours hazy yellow with plenty of fluffy white head and bright aromas of mandarin orange and coriander seed. On the palate, the mild sweetness of the light grains blend with notes of earthy spice and fresh citrus, ending with a zesty dry finish.


Koji Red Ale

An experimental ale made with Koji sake rice, wasabi root and ginger. The result is a blushing red color, a fruity aroma, and barrel-like notes.

An experimental ale brewed with red koji rice, an ingredient traditionally used in the production of Chinese Huangjiu and Japanese Sake. The addition of koji rice to the mash imparts a blushing red color and woody, barrel-like notes. Subtle additions of wasabi root, ginger, and moderate bitterness from earthy and herbal hops round out the palate of this unique and complex beer.

Oreo’s Oreo Beer

This one’s all about Oreo. She’s one of the amazing people behind Taihu’s beers, and her namesake snack is a 京A favorite. This is a pastry stout featuring heaps of black-and-white Oreos in the mash, which were then aged on Madagascar vanilla beans. Every sip is a delightful, creamy, dessert-powered journey.


Shrooms of Doom

A complex, layered farmhouse ale brewed with (formerly) poisonous Yunnan wild mushrooms. A pleasing light carbonation carries strong aromas of porcini shrooms and a hint of cardamon grounded in woody, earthy notes. Belgian yeasts bring a refined and balanced acidity, leading to a nutty finish.


Zao Dian

Umami Tsunami

Brewed with our friends in Shenzhen’s ET Brewery, this unique beer rides in on a tidal wave of flavor, balancing acidity, salt, and the toasted sweetness of our seaweed blend. In designing this beer we experimented with different types of seaweed, including fresh Kombu and Nori algae as well as seasoned toasted seaweed, eventually picking out a combination that works great in a beer. A pinch of fresh ginger adds an extra hint of herbal spice to this refreshing gose.

For people in Chongqing, where we brewed this special collab, Tianfu cola is more than a childhood memory – it gets its distinctive flavor from several herbs from traditional Chinese medicine: angelica root, rehmannia glutinosa, and white peony root. This beer has the flavor and tartness of cola, but give it a minute and the aroma of these unique herbs will wake up and delight you!

In Chinese mythology, Pangu was the first man, born from chaos, who carved out the world’s valleys, stacked up its mountains, and pushed apart heaven and earth. Inspired by Pangu’s understanding of duality and of raw primordial nature, we’ve created a two-part series of mixed-fermentation ciders, a beautiful blend of crisp apple, red berries, vanilla and honey rounded off by a pleasantly tart-dry finish.

During the Ming Dynasty, red koji rice was described as “sweet in flavor and warm in property”. In this Chinese twist on a New England IPA, we’ve used it to impart a warming red glow and mellow fruity flavor to the beer, underpinning bold hop aromas of lime and tropical fruit. Our friends at Lamplighter were special guests at 8×8 Festival in 2019!

A single hop New England DIPA we brewed originally for single’s day with Canada’s Collective Arts. This beer showcases the vividly expressive and unique flavors of Sabro hops, bursting with notes of lychee, tangerine, stone fruit and a hint of coconut cream.

Brewed in Buffalo NY , this sour gose features imported salted ume plums and plum purée, resulting in a crisp beer that’s incredibly tart and not overly fruity. Pucker up and get a taste of this amazing collaboration, made in advance of the 8×8 Festival in 2019.


Moon Temple

With Holy Mountain Brewing, Seattle

A unique American Wild Ale brewed with our friends at Holy Mountain Brewing in Seattle WA! Moon Temple features pilsner malt, wheat, rye, and spelt, lightly hopped with New Zealand moutere and fermented in oak puncheons with a house mixed culture. After primary fermentation we transferred it into oak barrels and aged it on mandarin oranges, along with a blend of green and black tea from China.


Chinese Medicine

A collaboration for the 8×8 Brewing Project 2019. We were inspired by one of the world’s most ubiquitous products – Coca Cola – which has a history in China of being used in surprising ways: specifically as a cold remedy served warm and infused with ginger. Chinese Medicine is an imperial cola sour (get some warmth from the alcohol) with an invigorating kick of ginger spice.

This beer stems from an argument over which city has the best summer soda: Beijing’s pulpy orange Beibingyang or Shanghai’s salty tangy Yanqishui. Neither side would budge, so we brewed a tart Gose with salted orange peel to combine the best from both sides!


Cha Shao Bao

with Heroes Beer Co Hong Kong

Did somebody order dim sum? We teamed up with our friends at Heroes Beer Co in HK to brew a Honey Amber Ale based on the classic dish Chaoshaobao (BBQ pork buns). Following the traditional recipe, we brewed with a big bundle of mantou in the mash, an ample dose of local honey, five spices, and red koji rice for color. The result is a mouthwatering spiced ale that ends with a smooth, sweet finish.


No. 17 Orange Chicken IPA

We are teaming up with our friends at Collective Arts Brewing to put together a series of collaboration brews based on classic North American-Chinese take-out dishes. Based on a quintessential Chinese restaurant order, No. 17 Orange Chicken IPA combines citrus and spice for a flavourful IPA! We used two kinds of orange peel for a citrusy punch, and dried sichuan pepper to give a slight spice on the end of every sip. (No chickens were used in the process!)

Extra Pale, Wheat, Oats and Lactose provide the base. Jona Prince and Gala apples in the boil, bittered with Hallertau Blanc. Mosaic and Nelson Sauvin added for flavor addition. Cinnamon, goji berries and vanilla in the whirlpool. Fermented with a Vermont Ale yeast strain. Refermented on yellow peaches. Hallertau Blanc, Mosaic and Nelson Sauvin dry hop for aroma.

A follow-up to our “Made in Denmark” collaboration brewed in Copenhagen, this fusion between a witbier and an IPA boasts a silky-smooth body due to the inclusion of flaked wheat, but zaps the palate with a zesty kick of Lemondrop hops and fresh kumquat fruit. Each sip is rounded off by a blend of sweet-tart rosehips and floral chamomile prepared by Christian Gadient, head chef of BRUS.

The wall couldn’t keep out this monster! We brewed this menacing imperial stout in collaboration with Barnaby Struve, a brooding brewer from Gothenberg’s Stigbergets Bryggeri. It fills the glass a bottomless ink-black with rich brown head. Pull it in for a sip to let it smack you across the face with a heavy hand of chocolate, bourbon, oak, and earthy hops.

Yangmei Sour

A collaboration brew with Trip Smith from Guiyang. This beer uses a variety of fruity, citrusy hops and an infusion of fresh Yangmei, or Yumberry. This local Chinese fruit combines the sweetness of strawberries with a tartness reminiscent of pomegranate seeds, emphasized further by a light blend of kettle-soured ale.

Ice Ice Baby

A 100% Cryo Hop IPA made in partnership with YCH (Yakima Chief – Hopunion). Cryo hops are the concentrated lupulin of whole-leaf hops, separated at extremely low temperatures to preserve the aromatic hop components and remove most of the vegetal leafy matter. For this beer we used Citra and Loral varietals imparting notes of juicy lychee, grapefruit, lemon zest, piney hop resin, and a hint of black pepper.


Sky Temple

This beer is a custom-blend of lambic-inspired traditional spontaneous ale that was re-fermented with dried Hawthorne berries direct from China. Pink, tart, and fruity, but still showcasing a depth of flavor and complexity that can only come from spontaneous fermentation.

Is it a fruit or is it a vegetable? Neither! It’s our latest experimental beer inspired by a beer cocktail, the Michelada… Ignore the circular logic and just drink it! Mead Me in the Middle (Kingdom)

A collaboration with Denali Brewing from Talkeetna, Alaska on their first visit to Beijing. We brewed a type of mead known as braggot, a style that’s like a halfway point between mead and beer as it’s brewed with both honey and barley malt. Shangrila Farms Chasteberry Honey from Mentagou, a protected ecological area west of Beijing, and Nelson Sauvin hops combine for rich floral notes and a semi-sweet finish.


Hop into Houhai

ABV: 6.2% | 35 IBU

A mouth-puckering IPA brewed with Australian and New Zealand hops and then soured for a surprising combination of tartness and hop bitterness. Bright and juicy, with notes of tropical fruit, citrus, and black pepper. Brewed in collaboration with Wuhan’s No. 18 Brewing.


Han Meimei

ABV: 6% | 20 IBU

with imbeer China

An experimental brew featuring organic raspberries from Yinchan and cardamom, made in partnership with imbeer. This is the first publicly-available beer fermented with the new BE-134 Saison yeast, which lends aromas of fruit tree blossoms and cloves. On the palate, the tart raspberries mingle with the sweet spice of the cloves, ending with a refreshingly dry finish.


Guo Zao Breakfast Stout

An American-style stout with rich notes of nuts and chocolate. Brewed in collaboration with Number 18 Brewing on our recent visit to Wuhan, Guo Zao is the local phrase for eating breakfast, and this beer includes additions of black sesame and sticky rice, key ingredients in some of Wuhan’s famous morning snacks like Reganmian (hot dry noodles), Tofu-skin Rolls and Wuhan-style Shao Mai.


Dualistic Oversimplification Szechuan Sour

This beer is one half of a two-part series we’ve brewed in collaboration with Vietnam’s Pasteur Street Brewing: Two diametrically opposed beers – a kettle sour and a stout – both featuring the same three special ingredients: cocoa nibs, dried tangerine peel, and Sichuan pepper. A tart ale with a bright floral aroma and notes of sweet citrus on the palate. Subtle nutty notes and a spicy mala buzz emerge in the finish.


Duck Rye’der

with Against the Grain KY

A Rye IPA conditioned on charred Jujube wood, brewed in collaboration with Louisville KY’s Against The Grain Brewery. Wood from the Jujube (Chinese date tree) is traditionally burned for roasting Beijing duck, and in this beer it envelops hoppy notes of spices and grapefruit with a layer of sweet fragrant smoke.


Pineapple Cake Pale Ale

with Taihu Brewing Taipei

A gold-colored pale ale that opens with a burst of fresh pineapple, whose sweet and sour flavor balances with citrus and passionfruit notes from Riwaka hops. Taiwanese Pineapple Cakes added directly to the mash add an appropriate hint of sweetness and a biscuity finish to this cross-the-straits collaboration with Taihu Brewing from Taipei.


Imperial Koji Saison

In Spring 2015, Alex and Kris traveled to Grimstad, Norway, to brew this radical collaboration with our good friend Kjetil. Together, we created this Imperial Saison brewed with fresh koji from Nøgne Ø’s sake brewery, aged Chinese orange peel brought from the far reaches of the Orient, and a Saison/sake yeast blend. Dry, complex, umami flavors in a beer that defies definition, shocks the senses, and opens the mind to new possibilities!


PuPu Porter

Our second collaboration with Norwegian craft brewery Nøgne Ø is an invigorating dark ale. We’ve layered the earthy and herbal flavors of aged Pu’er Tea from Yunnan Province over a full-bodied base of roasted malts. Moderate bittering hops allow thedistinctive character of the tea to take center stage.

Pomegranate Beijinger Weisse

In the foothills of the Great Wall lies an area of farmland, known as the Nine Rivers, where the best chestnuts in China are grown. This beer, a collaboration with Norwegian brewmaster Kjetil Jikiun, features local roasted chestnuts and a strong malty backbone to help you through the cold Beijing winter.

Suan Mei Tang 酸梅汤 is a traditional sour plum drink brewed by Beijingers during the hot summer months. For the first chapter of this brew at Moonzen Brewery, we took the essence of this “老北京” drink – smoked sour plums, hibiscus, hawthorn berries and dried orange peel – and infused them into a wheat beer. The second batch of this crisp, refreshing beer will be brewed in Beijing at 京A in Spring 2016, hence the name, “One Beer, Two (brewing) Systems”. 干杯!


The Beijing Miracle

Beijing’s Miracle beer is a 4.44% ABV Belgian pale ale, brewed with 4.4 grams of star anise (notice a theme?), 4444 seconds on the boil, dry-hopped with 444 grams of German Comet Hops for a finish of 24 IBU. Fruity and spicy notes from the Belgium style yeast, and a black berry and black currant hop aroma, Beijing’s first Collaboration beer is dank, fruity and unique.

Happy Farmhouse

Based on a Belgian beer style brewed by farmers in the fall and aged through winter, this Osmanthus-enriched saison was fermented with a mix of Brettanomyces, Saccharomyces and Lactobacillus. The vastness of the earth comes through in funky notes of fresh barnyard. A floral essence evokes sunny harvest days, leading to a dry and crisp finish.


Old School

ABV: 5.0%

Our very own time-honored brand of bingeable, retro goodness. Old School keeps it all classic – it’s a Vienna Lager with a smooth, medium-bodied mouthfeel and a crisp finish. A timeless beer for nostalgic evenings.

ABV: 0.5%

A laid-back low-alcohol beer with all of the hops and none of the hangover. In Chinese, “touching fish” refers to stealthy, tactical slacking off on the job. Just like this deceptive 0.5% sipper that feels like a busy hazy IPA, complete with juicy tropical fruit aromas. A few pints deep, and you can still get right back to work. Or to slacking.


Imperial Yunnan Coffee Stout

ABV: 10%

A delightful beer for frightful weather. Dark, sweet, boozy and overloaded with roasted malts, this invigorating imperial stout was aged on Jim Beam bourbon barrel oak for three months. Beijing’s own Daxiao Coffee supplied the Yunnan coffee beans added during conditioning, which come through in strong notes of chocolate, mocha and vanilla.


Yuzu Xanadu

ABV: 5.6%

The latest in our Xanadu series of Berliner Weisse-style sours features generous additions of fresh yuzu. This pale straw ale was soured with the use of lactobacillus for bright tart citrus notes, a sparkling mouthfeel and low hop bitterness.


Heaven on Earth

A sinfully decadent salted dark chocolate sour that opens with velvety notes of mocha, oozes with black forest flavors and ends with light notes of cherry and a nice acidity. Transcendentally delicious.

A mysterious IPA that’s not in any beer catalog. Brewed with the tempestuous, unpredictable funk of Brett wild yeast, this IPA balances floral, fruity, leathery and barnyard aromas with a dry finish that tingles with pleasing notes of spice.

A zesty wheat beer “wet-hopped” with a fresh harvest of Xinhui tangerine peels from Guangdong. Big citrus hits and a hazy body combine to provide mimosa-like refreshment.


Hokkaido Classic

A refreshing lager featuring quirky Japanese Sorachi Ace hops and sushi rice in the grain bill! The hops bring notes of dill and lemon, while the rice adds a smooth, creamy mouthfeel. Crisp and bright like a Hokkaido sunset.

A thick, creamy fruit smoothie beer with a slightly tart finish. Part of our ‘Nectar’ series, this beer features a Berliner Weisse base fermented with over 100kg of fresh mangos puree, then conditioned on Madagascar vanilla beans. Extreme tropical fruit flavours meet velvety mouthfeel for a summery drink like no other.


Jing-A-Ling Christmas Ale

Good things come to those who wait, especially around Christmas. The 2020 edition of our annual festive beer is a sumptuous spiced brown ale brewed with lots of caramel and roasted malts, then aged on fresh orange peel, nutmeg, cinnamon and clove. Sip slowly for an intense warm glow, and drink deep for holiday cheer!


Change of Plans

A quick-thinking IPA for these unpredictable times, brewed with a combination of Hallertau Blanc, Cascade and Nelson Sauvin hops. Every sip is a compelling plot twist, starting with bright notes of white wine grapes leading to zesty fruit notes, and closing with an earthy hop bitterness


Get Toasted

ABV: 5.5%

A pale stout that pours a summery gold. Lush notes of dark chocolate, coffee and vanilla meet ample additions of roasted marshmallow and biscuit malt. A beer for tall tales and nighttime adventures on the wild Wall.


Mango Coco Sago NEIPA

ABV: 8.0% | 50 IBU

Inspired by the popular Chinese dessert of the same name, we brewed a hazy New England-style IPA with tons of fresh mango and toasted coconut. Welcoming fruit aromas, smooth tropical flavours and a mellow touch of hop bitterness make for a pour as comforting as pudding.

This is 京A’s return to the roots – paying our dues by settling the pils. Jingdao is a classic old-school Bohemian-style pilsner, refreshing and supremely drinkable. 100% German malts provide toasty richness, while Czech Saaz hops bring rounded hop flavors and a crisp, clean finish.

Chou Jiao

Durian’s infamous stench and famous taste come together in a velvety, creamy Baltic porter with notes of chocolate and roasted coffee. Toasted coconut flakes add a touch of sweetness to a deep, dark, rich pour. A regal, all-consuming experience befitting the King of Fruits.

Qu Brew(2019)

A sour ale fermented with the use of Qu, the starting agent for China’s national spirit – Baijiu. This year’s batch features tangy notes of stone fruit, sweet tangerine, and a hint of clove-like spices.

Translating as “drink all day”, this session IPA features a globe-trotting trio of hops from the US (Zythos), Australia (Ella), and Germany (Mandarina Bavaria). It treads lightly with a crisp mouthfeel and low ABV, while still packing massive flavors of tropical fruit, grapefruit, and hoppy pine.

A straw-colored hazy pale ale infused with fresh passionfruit. This beer was heavily dry-hopped to impart juicy hop aromas and flavors that can stand up to the fruit’s tropical tartness. Enjoy this small-batch brew while it’s fresh and still on tap. It’s drinkable we think there’s no chance it will last longer than Beijing’s brief window of Spring.


Caonimei IPA

A bright ruby IPA brewed with fresh strawberry juice, vanilla, oats and lactose. A sweet aroma of berries and cream gives way to a mix of tropical fruit and balancing bitterness from an intense dry hopping of New World and American hops.


Black Cat Lager

A classic schwarzbier, crisp and easy-drinking with a hint of coffee & chocolate from the inclusion of roasted malt. As Deng would say, it doesn’t matter if it’s a light beer or dark beer so long as it gets the job done.


Banana Bomb

ABV: 5.0% | 12 IBU

A traditional German style Hefeweizen with big aromas of banana and a little spicy clove which comes from that particular yeast’s fermentation. Pours cloudy gold with a fluffy white head and a smooth & creamy body from the high proportion of wheat malt.


80/20 IPA

ABV: 6.5% | 45 IBU

Packed with 80% Mosaic and Palisade cryo hops and 20% Simcoe T95 pellets, this 6.5% hazy NE IPA blows the senses with notes of tropical fruit, tangerine, and piney hop resin. A collaboration between Jing-A Brewing Co and Yakima Hop Chief.

One Hop Policy

One Hop Policy- Nelson Sauvin

ABV: 5.5% | 40 IBU

The first One Hop Policy beer puts the spotlight on Nelson Sauvin, a hop grown in New Zealand whose name derives from the Sauvignon Blanc grape. While most IPAs use several aroma and bittering hops to create a distinctive hoppy blend, limiting ourselves to just one hop allows the drinker to experience the flavor of that particular hop in isolation and better appreciate its unique character.

Draw in a deep breath to be fully immersed in this beer’s rich aroma of sweet almond milk. After a sip, additional notes of toffee and lightly roasted nuts emerge, complemented by mild hop bitterness and a smooth finish.

A sparkling sour mijiu (glutinous rice wine) that was fermented with a blend of brewer’s yeast, wild yeast and bacteria, and aged on mulberries and jujube dates for three months. Opens with juicy aromas of tart berries and stone fruit. Light-bodied and smooth with a hint of rice sweetness and a dry, sparkling finish.


Milk Tea IPA

A low-bitterness IPA bursting with bright floral & citrus flavours of Columbus & Galaxy Hops. This beer was brewed with additions of Jasmine Tea & Lactose(the sugar found in milk), which give it an exceptionally smooth & well-rounded finish.

This West Coast-style IPA was brewed with a massive dose of Australian and New Zealand hops to smother you with a balanced blend of sticky pine resin, stone fruit, spice, and citrus. Hop lovers will happily dive head-first into the dankness!


‘Tis the Saison

A holiday farmhouse ale brewed with cardamom, fresh grapefruit and jasmine tea. Rich gold in color with notes of lightly toasted malt sweetness, jasmine flowers, spices and citrus peel.

Brewer’s yeast comes to grips with its wild cousin Brett in this modern take on a Belgian Pale Ale. This beer was dry-hopped with a blend of old-world and new-world hops, so give your glass a swirl and enjoy rich tangerine and tropical fruit aromas bursting out from the grassy base notes.

A light-bodied and tart mixed-fermentation gose. We conditioned this brew on fresh cilantro, lemongrass and kumquats for a mix of bright citrus and peppery herbal notes, tied together with a pinch of sea salt.

Winter Solstice

British Strong Ale inspired by the Winter Solstice – the coldest and darkest day of the year. Dark mahogany in color with a malty aroma which holds notes of dried fruit, nuts and caramel. A flavorful and rich brew originally created by Yukun – the winner of the 6th Beijing Homebrew Competition in Summer 2017.

Bière de Guard

An easy-drinking ale based on a rustic French Bière de Garde, which translates to beer for keeping… in our case, keeping the neighborhood safe! Twelve months of cold-conditioning have allowed its spicy and fruity malt character to rise to occasion. It rounds off each sip with a satisfied nod of hop bitterness and a finish as clean as the new Sanlitun bar street.


Pai Huanggua

A super-refreshing gose (sour wheat ale) inspired by the classic Chinese appetizer of the same name, meaning Smashed Cucumber. Brewed with heaps of freshly crushed cucumber juice and a hint of sea salt to brighten the flavor. It’s the perfect beer for cooling off in the heat of Beijing summer!

Jing-Eh? Golden Maple Coffee Stout

Brewed in celebration of Canada Day, this beer features the combination of Canadian maple syrup and Chinese coffee beans from Yunnan to impart the roasted notes typical of a stout while keeping the beer a sunny golden hue. Wa Sai-son

Exclusively available at 京A Brewpub Xingfucun, this brew packs a big flavor for its low ABV. Inspired by traditional French and Belgian table beers enjoyed at meals. Our first foray into blending fresh fruit with hops, this NE-style IPA features a combination of tropical aroma hops to complement the plush flavor of a big addition of fresh mango.


Day Day Hop

We added more hops than in any previous brew to bring you this hazy NE-style pale ale. A huge dose of Southern Hemisphere hops shine with notes of bright citrus and stone fruit, with a backdrop of resinous, spicy hops from the US.


Lychee Xanadu

ABV: 5.6% | 20 IBU

This cloudy straw-colored ale was soured with lactobacillus and infused with loads of juicy Chinese Lychees. The enticing flavor of white peach and lychee is balanced by a refreshing tartness and a sparkling, semi-sweet finish.

Beibingyang Summer Wheat

A fluffy and refreshing summer ale brewed with wheat malt and candied orange peel for pleasant notes of citrus zest, orange blossom and apricot. Mildly hopped with a mix of German and American hops for a smooth, clean finish.

A quaffable take on our Worker’s Pale Ale brewed with Zythos hops, a college diploma, 2 years of work experience, and no criminal record or adjuncts. Pours light copper in color, with brilliant clarity and a dense white head. Grassy, spicy and resinous hop aromas rest on a base of biscuity, lightly caramelized malts.

An ink-black imperial stout brewed with roasted barley from the Tibetan Highlands. A generous dose of New World hops strikes a balance with its rich malt base, resulting in luscious flavors of cocoa and freshly ground black pepper, with a hint of liquorice and lemon zest in the finish.

This pale-straw session IPA was brewed with fresh lychee fruit, whose delicate flavor is complemented by hoppy notes of freshly crushed white grapes. Its moderate bitterness and crisp, dry finish, means you won’t regret going back for more to get the job done!


Spring Blizzard IPA

ABV: 6.8% | 55 IBU

Inspired by the storms of white catkin-fluff that hit Beijing every Spring, this pale straw-colored IPA is light, dry, and unfiltered. Fresh hop aromas of citrus and melon intermingle with an infusion of jasmine green tea for a crisp, lasting finish.


Mijiaya Neolithic Ale

ABV: 3.7%

A 5000 year-old recipe for sour ale recreated with the help of Archaeologists at Stanford and the Shaanxi Institute of Archaeology. Based on their findings at the Mijiaya dig site in Shaanxi province – the earliest evidence of barley-based brewing in China – this beer was made with broomcorn millet, barley, mountain yam, and Job’s tears, plus hawthorn fruit, lily bulb, honey, and snake gourd root… all ingredients available to the ancient brewers of the late Yangshao period (3400 to 2900 B.C.). It was then soured with wild yeast collected on a farm in northern Shaanxi. Brewed without hops, this beer has an effervescent lemon tartness that cuts through the sweet and earthy flavors of its ancient fermentables.


Qu Brew (2015)

A Belgian dark strong ale Brewed with red sorghum and qu, the fermentation agent used to make China’s favorite spirit – baijiu. notes of dark fruit, raisins, and spice.

A beer for the masses that originated during the Gold Rush of the late 1800’s. The California Common was brewed in shallow open vessels to control fermentation temperatures in the era before refrigeration. Enjoy our modern take on this amber, full-bodied beer with herbal and earthy hop bitterness and a toasty, malt-forward palate.


Galactic Haze IPA

A cloudy, straw-colored IPA that blasts off with intense notes of key lime and passionfruit. The palate reveals a bold hop character, where bitterness blends with earthy, spicy hints of black pepper and lightly toasted malt. The crisp, dry finish leads you right back for another sip.


Huamei Gose

Our take on the German sour beer known as Gose includes a big addition of Huamei – dried and salted Chinese plums. This wheat beer strikes the perfect balance between tartness and sweet fruit, tied together with a brightening pinch of salt.

The latest in our “Xanadu” series of Berliner Weisse-style beers. This pale straw ale has been soured with the use of lactobacillus and infused with loads of painstakingly pressed pomelo juice for big tart citrus notes, a sparkling mouthfeel and low hop bitterness.

In this brew inspired by the White House Honey Ale, Amber and Biscuit malts combine with Kent Goldings hops for a “fair and balanced” flavor. We couldn’t sneak into Obama’s apiary in the Rose Garden, so instead we’ve used the finest Pomegranate Blossom Honey from our friends at Shangrila Farms.

Gaige Kaifang

A revolution is brewing! Gaige Kaifang refers to “Reform and Opening Up”, the program of economic reform that China initiated in the late 1970s. Inspired by the breakneck growth and development of Chinese craft beer, we brewed this unfiltered Triple IPA to reform your palate and open up your mind to new hoppy possibilities. Pale gold with notes of bitter orange marmalade, grapefruit peel, black pepper and licorice. On the palate, resinous hops and a spicy bite of alcohol rule over the rich and chewy malt.

A sour fermented with Belgian yeast and dry-hopped with Motueka and Nelson Sauvin hops from New Zealand for massive floral, fruity, and hoppy notes, and a puckering tart finish.

A great winter warmer that’s guaranteed to drive the chill out. Caramel malts combine with Simcoe and Nugget hops for a full-flavored winter brew with a hoppy bite.

Our second experiment brewing with the key ingredients of Baijiu, China’s national spirit. Brewed with red sorghum and kettle soured with Qu from a baijiu distillery in Inner Mongolia.

A beer so smoky, we shouldn’t let it inside of our taproom. Beechwood smoked malt combines with the warming chili spice and fruity notes of smoked dried chili peppers sourced from Guizhou province in southwestern China.

Shua Ye 刷夜” meaning literally, “to paint the town”. this beer is meant to awaken the Lao Beijing in everyone. This Golden Ale sports a warm golden hue, brought on by adding roasted sweet potato and a dash of cumin to the mash. The result is a perfectly balanced beer with a tinge of spice, smoke, and caramel notes, providing an indulgence of local flavors reminiscent of Beijing’s hutongs on a spring night.


Urban Buzz Honey Ale

Get your buzz on with this golden-hued ale brewed with fresh local honey we collected at the Shangrila Farms rooftop hives in Beijing’s 798 and Sanlitun neighborhoods. Goes down easy, with distinctive floral and spicy flavors imparted by the urban honey.

This Belgian-style dubbel was brewed with five spices – orange peel, coriander, ginger, nutmeg, and cloves, then matured for one year in our cellar.
